Iowa City Women’s Sober Living is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women in recovery by providing a safe, stable, and supportive living environment.

We believe recovery does not happen in isolation. It happens in community—through accountability, shared experience, and the daily practice of living a new way of life.

Our Mission

At Iowa City Sober Living, our mission is to provide a supportive and empowering environment for women in recovery from substance abuse.

We are committed to helping them rebuild their lives, fostering lasting sobriety, and promoting personal growth.

Through a structured, nurturing community, we aim to empower women to regain control of their lives, develop essential life skills, and build a foundation for a brighter, substance-free future.

Our Vision

Our vision for Iowa City Sober Living is to be a beacon of hope and transformation for women in recovery. We aspire to create a safe and welcoming home where every resident can rediscover their inner strength and purpose.

Through our commitment to best practices and NARR Version 3.0 standards, we envision a community of empowered women equipped with the tools and support they need to sustain lifelong recovery, reintegrate into society, and lead fulfilling, substance-free lives.

Together, we strive to build a brighter, healthier future, one woman at a time.

Our Story

We are two nurses in recovery from alcohol abuse. After more than 30 days of inpatient rehab, we continued to struggle with early sobriety and the compulsion to pick up that first drink. We found love and support in our recovery community and once again became able to believe in ourselves.

We found success through improvising a sober living environment by retreating into the safety of friends’ homes that provided an alcohol-free, sober place.

We want to offer others the benefit of our past experience and knowledge. To this end, we have built a comfortable, home-like environment for women in early recovery.

Our ultimate goal is that the women we help will, in turn, help other women recover.

We approach each resident with compassion and understanding, recognizing their unique recovery journey.
